manufacturing principles for precision CNC machined parts

- Dec 13, 2019-

General principles from LEMO:

1. First process the reference surface. During the machining process, the appearance of the positioning reference should be processed first in order to provide a precise reference for the subsequent processing as soon as possible. Called "benchmark first."

2. Division of processing stages

The appearances with high requirements for machining quality are divided into processing stages, which can generally be divided into three stages: rough CNC machining, semi-finishing and finishing. It is mainly to ensure the processing quality; it is conducive to scientific application equipment; it is convenient to arrange the heat treatment process; and it is convenient to find the blank defects when it is convenient.

3.Front and back

For the parts of the box, bracket and connecting rod, the plane should be machined first and then the hole should be machined. In this way, the holes can be machined in a plane position, the accuracy of the plane and hole position is ensured, and the machining of the holes in the plane is facilitated.

4. Finishing

The finishing of the main surface (such as: grinding, honing, finishing / rolling, etc.) should be placed at the end of the process route.

The formulation of CNC machining process specifications can be roughly divided into two steps.

The first is to draw up the process route of part processing, and then determine the process size, equipment and process equipment, cutting specifications, working hours quota, etc. of each process.

These two links are interrelated and a comprehensive analysis should be held.

The formulation of the machining process route is to formulate the overall layout of the process. The main task is to select the processing method of each appearance, determine the machining sequence of each appearance, and the number of processes in the entire process.
